Afghan parliament upholds right to marry children
Afghanistan’s parliament has rejected a measure that would have barred men from marrying girls younger than 16, saying the proposal ran counter to Islamic ideology.
The measure also would have banned “baad, [the] traditional practice of buying or selling women to settle disputes,” and outlawed criminal charges being imposed on rape victims, Breitbart reported. Rape victims in Afghanistan often are charged with fornication or adultery.
President Hamid Karzai reportedly supported the measures, but opponents said they “violate[d] Islamic principles,” Breitbart reported.
Such a peaceful, loving people.
Disgusting.

I’m ending with the late bustle period, because it seems a good quitting place and is a fun juxtaposition with the requested early bustle period of the 1870s. Quite suddenly around 1883, bustles returned with a vengeance - but they were changed from the first bustle styles. These retained the slim, flat hips of the prior natural form period, creating a dramatic “shelf” at the back of a woman’s skirts that remained until the late 1880s, when it disappeared forever.

Update
(I always hear the “Unsolved Mysteries” theme song when I write “Update.”)
- I passed ALL my maths this term. I am thrilled beyond thrilled. No more math at least until the end of this particular degree.
- I am still in science and am avoiding it by playing on tumblr right now which is bad because I only have a few days before finals.
- My house is a mess. I need a wife. Bad.
- Jake still drapes himself behind me and puts his butt in my face. He’s doing it now. And he just farted.
- I’ve been working like a dog. Wait, dogs don’t work. Dogs drape themselves over the back of the couch and fart. Anyway, I’ve been working loooooong days. Sometimes I’ve been up all night. I need an intern.
- I revamped my website http://karlaakins.com
- I’m using google+ more now because I heard it’s even more useful than twitter but I haven’t really seen a jump in my network visibility
- If I haven’t liked your posts it’s not that I don’t love you. It’s that I’m drowning in a long list of expectations.
- What are you up to these days? Drop me a line if I’ve missed something important!

Reportssay Mosques Excluded from The Digital Snooping Dragnet
Posted by Jack Cunningham (founder)
An Investor’s Business Daily opinion piece makes the claim that mosques are excluded from the massive dragnet surveillance operation of the US Government. “That’s right, the government’s sweeping surveillance of our most private communications excludes the jihad factories where homegrown terrorists are radicalized.”
