Did you know that the maternal death rate of women in Papua New Guinea is 1 in 7? That’s a pretty shocking statistic. A mama friend of mine, Adriel, is leading the charge to collect ” clean birth kits” through an organization called Medical Ships to get life saving birth kits into the…
Today was a special day at church but I had to come home which made me sad. And now I sit with a rumbly tummy and I don’t know why. And tomorrow I’m supposed to get my teeth yanked or whatever they’re going to do to them. Don’t know yet. Ugh. I don’t think I ate anything that would give me food poisoning so it’s a mystery why I don’t feel well.
In other news:
[ ] Jake keeps dropping his ball on my lap and staring at me. Poor guy has no empathy and no clue that I don’t feel good. Jake needs a job. I gotta find him one.
[ ] Didn’t flunk my biology quiz. That’s good I guess. Wish I had more time to study so I could ace these things. But I just don’t.
[ ] There’s a sealed envelope sitting on my counter ready to be mailed to a publisher that has a signed contract in it, and that makes me smile.
[ ] My parents’ 50th wedding anniversary is next weekend. 50 years! And I was there the first year at their wedding. I wish I could remember it. I bet it was beautiful. My mother used flowers from my grandma’s garden. Can you imagine having so many flowers to use them for a wedding? But that was my grandmother. Oh, I wish I had pictures to show you of her gardens.
During my snooze I dreamed about Mel Gibson, swimming with polar bears, and Geena Davis.
During my afternoon snooze I dreamed that Geena Davis ordered a bunch of balloons for Mel Gibson’s child’s birthday party and couldn’t pay for them. There were thousands of balloons. I let Mel know before things went south. I also taught Mel Gibson’s child (a boy) how to swim with polar bears in a pool. I swam with bears and made friends with them. Then, I was having cheese soup with an elderly lady at a fancy restaurant whose date left her there after she fell asleep. We were bored.
Before that I was robbing jewelry stores with a gang of thespians and escaping by boat and train.
Working from home is getting almost impossible these days.
I love working from home but lately it seems that it’s nearly impossible. <sigh> Too many interruptions all the time. Very frustrating. I don’t know if it’s because there are so many deadlines looming and I’m more stressed or what. I need to come up with another plan at least for the next few weeks.
Posting this for all you nature lovers and photo bugs out there. And especially those with kids. Here’s another cool way to learn about nature, and participate in collecting data about wildlife. You can use a mobile app or your web browser to share your wildlife encounters.
Project Noah is a tool that nature lovers can use to explore and document wildlife and a technology platform research groups can use to harness the power of citizen scientists everywhere. The purpose of the project is to mobilize and inspire a new generation of nature lovers. It began as an experiment to see if we could build an app for people to share their nature sightings and has evolved into a powerful global movement for both amateurs and experts. The name “Noah” is an acronym that stands for networked organisms and habitats.
I was asked what was my favorite part of the job and my least favorite part of the job, and realized I couldn’t fit my answer into a private reply. I’ll use the ever popular bullets and list the good stuff first, as the bad stuff can pretty well be encompassed in one or two bullets.
