“If you are going to be used by God, He will take you through a number of experiences that are not meant for you personally at all. They are designed to make you useful in His hands, and to enable you to understand what takes place in the lives of others.”—Oswald Chambers (via sketchmedesire)(via loveispatient)
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”—Hebrews 12:11 (via guidemeinyourtruth)
if you had 60 seconds to talk someone out of ending their life, what would you tell them?
I would ask them to tell me why and I would listen before saying anything. Then, I’d remind them of the people it would hurt if they left. I would remind them of their future and give reasons for hope in that future and explain things in a way that they see themselves in that happier future. A future with hope. I’d take them in my arms and get them the help they need.
This happened to me once. In this particular instance I also shared Psalm 139 with them and prayed with them.
